Dr. Ian Dayes is the Division Head of Radiation Oncology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. He also holds the position of Associate Member at the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute (ECRI), Faculty of Health Sciences, and is an Associate Professor in Oncology within the same faculty.

Dr. Dayes has an extensive educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Physiology, both from Western University. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and further specialized in Radiation Oncology at McMaster University, where he also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Health Sciences with a focus on Health Research Methodology. Additionally, he was awarded the First Mark Levine Fellowship in the Division of Oncology at McMaster University.

In terms of professional roles, Dr. Dayes currently serves as the Division Head of Radiation Oncology. He has previously held several key positions, including co-chair of the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital Foundation Cancer Research Grant Review Panel. He was also the Program Director and Chair of the Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program Committee at McMaster University’s Department of Oncology. Formerly, he was a member of the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation Board and chaired the Genitourinary Disease Site Group at the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

Dr. Dayes has published 66 peer-reviewed journal articles, with a research focus primarily on breast and prostate cancer.
